"Fake it 'Til You Make It" Look
Updated: Feb 1
The first few months after Hayden was born, getting ready for the day felt impossible. I was just too tired. I was also tired of catching a look at my reflection and feeling like a frumpy mess. Something about putting on a little makeup and getting dressed for the day made me feel like I could take on all the things.
I discovered these products during that time. Some were friend recommendations and other things I stumbled upon myself. Applying a few simple products helped me feel refreshed and look more awake than I felt on the inside.
Zach and I are always ballin' on a budget, and I didn't have time or money to buy things that didn't work for me. I see social influencers recommend expensive products that I just honestly can't afford most of the time. I'm so thankful I was able to find these affordable products, and I hope they are helpful to you!
Next I apply 3 thin layers of whatever Gellen color I choose, and I cure for 90 seconds in between each layer. There are lots of color packs to browse through.
And last, I apply a thick coat of Gellen's top coat (this link is a two pack of the base coat and top coat that you can purchase together), and then cure for 90 seconds under the lamp. And that's it!
This is a look at the end result! This photo has no filter. There's something about having my nails done that makes me feel put together and like I can accomplish all the things!
I had seen influencers talk about this tanning product a lot, but it took me a while to try it out because of the price.
But a good friend was talking to me about how much she loved it, and I finally tried it out.
Y'all, it's awesome. So natural looking.
Before applying, make sure to shave and exfoliate your skin. Then, apply lotion to your ankles, elbows, hands and feet. This really helps the tanner to go on smooth even on tricky areas.
I apply it with a tanning mit. I use about two pumps per limb, I use one pump for my chest/shoulders/neck, and then a dab a little bit on an inexpensive makeup brush, and apply to the top of my forehead, my cheeks and down my nose (I apply where the sun would hit my face and I would naturally tan). I avoid the t-zone.
I usually put it on at night, and shower off in the morning. I've never had it stain my sheets or my clothes, but I do walk around and let it dry for a bit before I get in bed. For some reason, having a little color and glow to my skin makes such a difference in how I feel when I look in the mirror.
3. Makeup Products
I am the FURTHEST thing from a makeup expert. I've found these products through friends. instagram and trial and error.
I'm embarrassed to do this, but I'm going to put a little tutorial over on my instagram account showing how I use these products.
These are my go-to items for a five minute makeup routine before I jump on a Zoom call or head to the store. Here are the products I love to use!
Cheek Heat Blush - Shade Nude Burn
These were the main beauty products I've been loving and wanted to share! In my Instagram videos, I also used these products: concealer (TJMaxx purchase), Elf mascara, and Elf brow gel. The lipgloss I mentioned that I LOVE but didn't put on during that video, is the Elf Lip Plumping Gloss (shade Peach Bellini).
I hope these products are helpful to you!! Moms, we deserve self-care every once in awhile. I hope you find time to pamper yourself a bit this week! :)
